Ugly, Ugly Betty

Uggly Betty Wardrobing

I thought Ugly Betty was a great show. How refreshing to see someone who is naive, idealistic and unique not only survive but succeed in the Fashion World. Well, that was before this week’s episode, Bad Amanda, aired on December 4.  Condoning “wardrobing” and Plada is just not cool. As a designer and a retailer I am doubly annoyed by the storyline.  It is not fun to buy something, wear it and then return it for a refund. It is not right. And buying knock-offs on Canal Street? Betty, please, girl, get it together! It is against the law!

Vintage Retro Ruby 14k Yellow White Gold Buckle Ring

Gorgeous vintage 14k Gold Yellow Gold, Rubies and 14k White Gold buckle ring. Circa 1930’s, it is a size 5. In perfect vintage condition, marked 14k on the inside of the shank.

Buckle jewelry is highly collectible and very hard to find.  Victorian jeweler really made good use of this design.  Although this is not a Victorian piece, it has true staying power.  Pretty soon you will see the new versions by current designers.  I bet they are coming as fashion always runs in cycles.

Sold! Thank You!

Tim Russert

Friday, June 13th, 2008

The world has a vacuum today, Tim Russert has passed away…

As I sit here working on my site, I overhear the news broadcast and the BBC mention of the passing of Tim Russert. I thought I could not possibly add to what is being said by professionals who have worked with him for so many years. Neither do I have the proper words that I could offer to loved ones, words are not enough.

I will miss him too. A true reporter, a true human being and a true patriot, he has touched so many lives in so many ways.

Many blessings to the Russert family, you are in my prayers.

We’ve been Blogged!

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Blogger Yo Shina, of OrangePage (one of the best Japanese Blogspheres on the web) has visited us at GreenFlea! We are so happy she did. Thank you for the kind words.

The blog is written in Japanese for a Japanese audience. Yo reports her experiences in New York and share the coolest places and real New York experiences. If you would like a translated page, see the Google translation. Please forgive the poor translation. I know, I know, it’s free but at least we get to read it, even if it makes no sense sometimes.

Many thanks, Yo Shina!

The Long Lost Glove

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

gooch.jpg

No. it’s not a typo. I am referring to OneColdHand.com, the Pittsburgh site dedicated to rejoining you and that one glove you “have no idea where it is”. Who knows, maybe you will find your match.

Jennifer Gooch, a graduate student in the Carnegie Mellon University School of Art started this site after finding a lonely glove, taking it and leaving a note for the owner, just in case the owner returned looking for it.  She now pins them to the wall with the vital stats, when, where, by who. So if you are in Pittsburg and lost a glove recently, pay Jennifer’s site a visit. New York might be next.

Now we wait for the map to the land where socks go and it will be happiness all around.

You can read the complete article in the Pocono Record. Many thanks to the Pocono Record and Associated Press for the image.
