Antique Three Dimensional Figural Head Hatpin Hat Pin
Beautiful antique figural Hatpin from the late 19th Century, Victorian/Art Nouveau. Made in wonderful detail, it is the likeness of a young country lad, curls of hair peaking from underneath the wide brimmed hat over his proud forehead.
It is hollow and probably Repousse. I feel strongly it is Sterling Silver, although the only mark is on the underside near the stamp and reads “Pat Appl For”. It is faint, but I am pretty sure that is what it says. It is too small and at a difficult location for a picture, so I did my best and took a few. Please enlarge them for details.
Overall length is 8 3/8″ or 21.5cm. The head sculpture itself is 1 1/4″ or 3cm by 7/8″ or 2.2 cm deep and 1″ or 2.5cm wide across the brim of the hat.
This is a real wearable sculpture, and is in wonderful condition.
